Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University (FSMVU), Istanbul, Türkiye, participated in EAIE 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, one of Europe’s leading gatherings dedicated to international higher education and global engagement. Bringing together universities, international education professionals, and institutions from across the world. The event opened with a lively welcome reception at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Featuring Scottish music, traditional performances, and interactive activities, provided FSMVU with a valuable platform to strengthen existing partnerships, establish new connections, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
Throughout the three-day event, the delegation from FSMVU’s Directorate of International Relations held numerous productive meetings with university representatives, international education professionals, existing partners, and potential partners from around the world. These meetings brought together institutions and colleagues from Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czechia, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Oman, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Providing opportunities to exchange ideas and explore new areas of cooperation.
During the event, FSMVU also had the opportunity to reconnect with valued partners, including the Turku University of Applied Sciencesi Finland and Powiślańska Academy of Applied Sciences,Poland strengthening the relationships and cooperation built through existing partnerships. At the same time, meetings with new potential partners opened the door to further opportunities for collaboration in areas including student and staff mobility, academic cooperation, and internationalization.
Beyond formal meetings, EAIE 2026 provided a dynamic environment for professional networking, knowledge exchange, and intercultural dialogue. The event offered FSMVU an opportunity to engage with colleagues from diverse higher education systems, share experiences, and gain new perspectives on international cooperation and global engagement.
The delegation also took the opportunity to further explore the higher education landscape in Glasgow through visits to two distinguished institutions, The Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. These campus visits offered valuable insights into their academic environments and educational approaches, while providing an opportunity to exchange perspectives and experience the institutions’ unique academic settings firsthand. Together with the meetings and activities at EAIE 2026, the visits added another valuable dimension to FSMVU’s international engagement in Glasgow.
Bringing together partnership meetings, professional exchange, and institutional visits, EAIE 2026 provided FSMVU with a valuable opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships, build new international connections, and explore new avenues for cooperation. The University remains committed to expanding its global network and developing meaningful partnerships that create new international opportunities for its students, academics, and wider university community.
